[Men's Cross Country] Jefferson leads Knights at Hagan Stone Classic

Greensboro, NC- The St. Andrews University cross country teams both ran against NCAA Division 1, 2 and 3 competition over the weekend at the Hagan Stone Classic in Greensboro and finished with some pretty decent results.

The men's team ended up coming in 3rd place out of 6 NCAA Division 2 teams, as they were led by freshman Danzel Jefferson's 2nd place finish in D-2 (out of 44 runners) as he ran a 27:01 in the 8K race, just 4 seconds behind the winner from UVA-Wise.

Finishing second on the team for the Knights was sophomore Cannon Heath who ran a 29:19 race to come in 14th overall while freshman Justin Brown came in right behind in 15th at 29:34. They were then followed by junior Tyler Beaver who was next in 25th with a time of 31:19 while freshman Chase Kopp finished up the Knights scoring in 29th place in 32:43. Other Knights to finish was freshman Michael Hare who came in 34th with a time of 34:10.

Pfeiffer University (NC) won the event with 36 points by having all five of their runners in the top 10. UVA-Wise was next in 2nd place with 44 points including 3 of the top 4 finishers, followed by SAU in third with 81, Catawba (NC) in fourth with 96, Fairmont St. (W.Va.) in fifth with 114 and Bluefield St. (VA) in 6th with 152 points.

The cross country team is next in action this Friday as they travel to Charlotte, NC to compete at the Royals Challenge, hosted by former rival Queens University.
