Track & Field: Westminster Opens Indoor Season at YSU IcebreakerPublished by
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The Westminster College men's and women's track & field teams opened their 2014-15 indoor season on Friday at the Youngstown State Icebreaker. A selected number of Titans competed. For the women's team, sophomore two-time indoor All-American Marissa Kalsey (Waynesburg, PA / Waynesburg) captured the lone Titan win as she placed first in the pole vault with a mark of 3.80 meters (12'5.50'), while sophomore All-American Brooke Mancuso (Wexford, PA / North Allegheny) placed fourth as she cleared 3.40 meters (11'1.75'). Junior Alicia Nuzzo (New Castle, PA / Neshannock) placed 16th in a field of 35 runners in the 400 meter dash (1:01.66). For the men's team, junior Nick Fiorentino (Franklin, PA / Franklin) made his presence felt in the throws as he placed eighth in the weight throw (12.07 meters/39'7.25') and seventh in the shot put (13.58 meters/44'6.75'). Junior Andrew Brannen (Pittsburgh, PA / Peters Township) tied for sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.10 meters (13'5.25'). Junior Jake Dindak (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) placed 21st in the 400 meter dash (52.88) and was also the fourth leg of the 4x400 meter relay team that placed sixth with a time of 3:30.26. Completing the quartet were junior Anthony Yasko (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood), senior Christian Friday (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park), and sophomore Scott Hughes (Pittsburgh, PA / Shaler).
