[Track & Field] Warriors Compete at SF State Distance CarnivalPublished by
San Francisco, Calif. – The Warriors track and field team was back on the track at the San Francisco State Distance Carnival Friday and Saturday. Senior Hannah Wiesner turned in the best race of the event in the two mile race. She took third place with a time of 11:45.55. Wiesner recorded a time of 5:05.60 in the 1500 meter race as well. In the one mile, Sara Martinez finished 28th with a time of 6:29.88, while Megan Crutchfield was right behind her with a time of 6:34.23. Freshman Lauren Lee had the Warriors in the 100 meters with a time of 13.53. Senior Emily Fernandez recorded a time of 13.67. In the 200 meters, Fernandez finished with a time of 28.64. On the men's side, senior David Cummings had the top finished in the one mile race. Cummings took 8th place with a time of 4:39.25. Senior Wayne Smith took 10th with a time of 4:41.26, while sophomore Patrick Johnson followed Smith with a time of 4:43.16. Sophomore Michael Basuini ran a 15:34.17 in the 5,000 meters. In the two mile, junior Jonathan Hernandez took 9th with a time of 9:55.43. Senior Micah Hayes finished 30th in the 200 meter race with a time of 23.72. In the 400 meters, Hayes ran a 54.11. Senior Julius Smith took 20th in the 100 meters with a time of 12.78. In the field events, junior Nate Ellis took 5th place in flight #2 with a long jump of 6.16. In the triple jump, Ellis took 6th with a jump of 12.43 meters, while sophomore Kenneth Parker finished one spot behind Ellis with a jump of 12.37. Freshman Jennah Richmond placed 6th in the shot put with a throw of 9.63 meters, while fellow freshman Shannon Postle took 9th with a throw of 9.03 meters. Freshman Kyle Malarae took 5th place in flight #1 of the men's division with a throw of 11.20 meters. The Warriors return to action next weekend at the Chico State Twilight Invitational.
