NEWARK, Ohio – University of Rio Grande head cross country/track & field coach Bob Willey has announced the signing of Newark High School's Kameron Carpenter for the 2013-14 season.
Carpenter was a 5-foot-11, 130-pound distance runner for head coach Randy Noftz's Wildcats, competing in the 800-meter run, the 1,600-meter run, the 3,200-meter run and the 5,000-meter run during the course of his prep track career.
After running a personal-best time of 16:02.14 and placing 39th in the Ohio State Cross Country Championship back in November, Carpenter competed exclusively in the 3,200-meter run this spring. He ran a season-best 10:09.18 in the Ohio Capital Conference (OCC) championship meet on May 18 and had a time of 10:20 for a 16th place showing in district championship action.
