1. Michigan State - Dominated regional powers including Iowa State at Roy Griak after taking 5 of the first 22 spots 2. Michigan - Handily won Battle in Beantown against Georgetown. 3. Arkansas - They have dominated so far and have a national title contender in Scott 4. Oregon - Won Washington meet against likely Stanford team. It will be interesting to see Neer and Baxter open in two weeks 5. Florida State - Quigley led team at Paul Short that was crushed by Guelph and lost to a resting Georgetown 6. Georgetown - Lost to Guelph but clearly waiting to run hard in two weeks. 7. Colorado - Erin Clark ran great at Rocky Mountain Shootout, no Southerland yet. 8. Stanford - Cranny debuted, waiting on Cuffe. Young depth ran well in Seattle 9. New Mexico - Dominated Notre Dame with Arter at the front. 10. Iowa State - Smith is great at developing strong distance programs. 11. Virginia - Has looked solid so far and dominated at Panorama Farms 12. Syracuse - 3rd at Battle in Beantown with first five within :39 13. North Carolina - Good frontpack at Roy Griak, 4-5 not set up yet 14. Wisconsin - 6 returners from team that finished 21st last year 15. Washington - 3rd at Washington Invitational with new #1 in Meyers. Still haven't run Nealle or Knight, top returners. 16. William & Mary - five returners from team that finished 12th last year. Stites is getting better too. 17. Villanova - Buttner ran well at Washington Invitational, team developing a good top 3 but not everyone running well at the same time. 18. Providence - Rocha is developing, still waiting for Collins to race, maybe we will see her in two weeks. 19. Butler - Top team not running where they will at end of the season. Resulted in disasterous 14th at Roy Griak 20. Boise State - Fourth at Roy Griak. Good 1-2 but need 4 and especially #5 21. NC State - Thompson is leading a good team that could move up with a good #5. 22. Boston College - Westphal won Battle in Boston but team finished fourth and 4-5 a concern. 23. Dartmouth - Giordano is running well as #1, 2-4 doing well too but need #5. 24. UCLA - Joined the men with a great meet in Seattle (4th). Smith ran well in front and good pack behind them. Top 5 has 4 seniors. 25. Baylor - Fifth at Roy Griak, Rachel Johnson has turned the corner since last XC season and become a top runner.
