After taking the national lead over the Weekend, Walter Henning earned the SEC Male Field Event Athlete of the Week honor.  The LSU junior, who placed fourth in the 35-pound weight throw at last year’s NCAAs, shattered personal and school records at the New Mexico Invitational with an NCAA-leading throw of 75 feet, 8 inches. His previous best was 74-5 1/2.

Florida freshman Jeremy Postin placed third at the Texas A&M Challenge over the weekend, reaching a personal best of 59-6 3/4 in his second collegiate meet.  That was the fifth-best men’s weight throw in school history and he became just the sixth athlete in school history to eclipse the 18-meter mark. In that meet, he bettered his previous personal-best mark of 17.64m/57-10.5 by more than half-a-meter.
