Editor Erik Boal and writers Mary Albl, Dave Devine, Brian Towey, Landon Negri, Mike Newman and Adam Kopet all continued to uncover stories, cover events and report news during a year of growth for DyeStat. In case you missed them, here is a list of our best stories of 2018. Jan. 9: Andrew Wheating announced his retirement, which offered a moment to reflect on the highs and lows of his career and look forward to a life after racing.
Jan. 11: Rebecca Mehra of Oiselle was eager to participate at the Great Edinburgh XCountry International Challenge, her second chance to compete for the U.S.
Jan. 13: Sondre Guttormsen became the second prep vaulter to clear 18 feet indoors at the UCS Spirit National Pole Vault Summit.
Jan. 14: Jenna Rogers, the high school high jump champion from New Jersey, got her start jumping onto the family couch.
Jan. 22: Former high school sprinter Sam Michener discusses his path to the U.S. Olympic bobsled team ahead of the Winter Olympics in South Korea.
Jan. 28: Georgia freshman Lynna Irby made a big splash with a 200-400 double that brought sudden comparisons to Sanya Richards-Ross.
Jan. 31: Wings of America athletes set to soar at the USATF Cross Country Championships.
Jan. 31: Ten years after his high school victory, Kyle Merber had his sights on winning the Wanamaker Mile title at the NYRR Millrose Games.
Feb. 2: Superstars Katerina Stefanidi and Sandi Morris made the women's pole vault one of the main events at the NYRR Millrose Games.
Feb. 2: Tori Bowie recalls being "forced" into track so that she could play basketball.
Feb. 6: Colorado prep star Emily Sloan was looking forward to a big year.
Feb. 9: Dillon Maggard of Utah State made massive improvement from high school in order to become one of the best distance runners in college track and field.
Feb. 14: Arria Minor of Colorado was set to headline the Simplot Games.
Feb. 17: Scott Houston dealt Sam Kendricks are rare loss in the men's pole vault at the USATF Indoor Championships.
Feb. 22: Hurdler Chad Zallow picked a local, mid-major school and hasn't regretted it.
Feb. 26: Division 3 star Wadeline Jonathas was featured for her success at UMass- Boston.
