A day of historic proportions - This is the first time a HS Girl has run sub 11 as Rockdale Georgia's Candace Hill clocked a wind-legal 10.98 to win going away at the 2015 Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle earlier today.

It was quite apparent back in April of 2014 that Candace was a special talent.

Candace first burst onto the national scene at the 2014 Mobile Challenge of Champions as a freshman winning the Girls 100m and 200m races and being named the Donna Dye Meet MVP.

Now only a sophomore, the accolades have reached historic proportions as she has won numerous State titles, the 2015 adidas Dream 100 and once ratified, rewriting all the record books by setting the Girls 100m National HSR, American Junior and World Youth Records.

Historically, could this be the equivalent of going sub 4 for the first time? 

Candace's time of 10.98 is faster than that of Allyson Felix who was more a 200m specialist and Kaylin Whitney's 11.10 previous National High School record.  Allyson and Kaylin are 2 athletes that headed to the professional ranks early, bypassing the collegiate ranks and signing endorsement contracts with Nike.

It's also interesting to note that Candace is apparently too young to compete for the United States in the 2016 Olympic Games under current guidelines, a fact that was raised in 2014 when it was determined Alana Hadley would be too young to compete in the Marathon under IAAF regulations which the USATF has adopted.
