CSUN's Trey Knight Launches Big Throw To Win Weight Throw At The Podium In Spokane

Long Beach State swept the team titles Monday at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor championships at The Podium in Spokane, Wash. 

The men scored 158 points and the women rolled up 132 over the two-day competition. 

And it was already a big week for Long Beach State. Head men's and women's track and field coach LaTanya Sheffield was named the U.S. women's Olympic team coach for Paris this summer. 

The Long Beach State men had four field event winners, plus heptathlon winner Aidan Turner, who scored 5,092 points. Hailey Fune' won the women's pentathlon with 3,889 points. 

Trey Knight of Cal State Northridge connected on a big throw in the weight ring and moved to No. 4 on the NCAA list with 77-2 (23.52m). His throw was a few inches shy of the meet record held by Conor McCullough. A day earlier, Knight won the shot put with 55-7 (16.94m). 

Portland dominated the distance events. The Pilots men went 1-2-3-4 in the 3,000 and 5,000 meters. 

Laura Pellicoro of Portland won the women's 800 meters in 2:05.01. 

Abel Jordan of Cal State Fullerton won the men's 60 meters in 6.59 seconds. The Titans swept the event as Trinity Barnett won the women's dash in 7.34 seconds. 

David Phillips and Chase Mars of CSUN went 1-2 in the men's 200 meters, clocking 20.78 and 20.80.
