I've been meaning to post about this for a while, but former UCLA All-American hammer thrower Cari Soong has started a blog with news and updates about high school hammer in Oregon.  Click here to view the blog. In the first month, the site has already provided state rankings, and links to upcoming meets and camps. After graduating from UCLA, Soong moved to Eugene to train post-collegiately. While she no longer throws, she now is the throws coach at Crow High School outside of Eugene.

Oregon's neighbor to the north, the state of Washington, began developing a high number of throwers over the past decade and Oregon has recently followed suit. This past season Greg Skipper (Oregon City, OR) has brought some headlines to the state with a new state record of 223'08" that ranks the junior fifth in the nation. They will be sure to develop many more throwers in the years to come.
