Who I Am...

I am Kayla. I am a 400 meter hurdler turned recreational jogger. I am an ex-weight-liftin’ -booty-short-spandex-wearin’-300-meter-repeatin’ -national-qualifyin’ -competitive track junkie.. turned 8-minute-mile-joggin’ -ipod-rockin’-just another one-of-the-millions of average runners in the world. I am a wife, an aunt, a sister, a daughter. A baker of treats, a lover of food an EX champion of bloody pingu (yes it's true, I've been beat)

I enjoy celebrity gossip, sarcasm, campfires, finding a wad of cash in a coat pocket that you haven’t worn since last winter, taking pictures, farmers markets, new recipes, getting fired up over a Sunday night-intermediate -coed-indoor soccer game, Dutch Brothers dutch coffee - 1 cream 2 sugars please, shopping for baby clothes (no, not for me), forcing myself to throw on my supernovas and head out the door at 7 at night only to find that my calves don’t feel nearly as bad as I thought they would after walking all day in those 2.5 inch Franco Sartos and chugging along at an effortless 7:55 pace scoring a free pass through every stoplight on my route -- and no I didn’t mean to write 5:55. I dislike sideaches, spelling mistakes, rude customer service people, disorder, bad drivers, people who throw trash out their window while driving, ungrateful house plants that keel over after all I’ve done for them - nothing but love and affection and how do they repay me?...

I am married to my tall, dark and handsome -- one part computer geek, two parts running nerd, who has spent the last year creating a website where running nerds alike could come together and nerd it up. Needless to say the site was almost called “runningnerd.com,” but he didn’t want to exclude cool people like me from enjoying the site (just kidding, the aforementioned “about me” clearly affirms that I am, in fact, NOT cool)… anyway… I have witnessed the countless exciting moments and creative thoughts that have been poured into this website, along with the moments of waiting and discouragement -- all of which have made the launch of this website an even more incredible feat! So look around, check out the pictures, watch a video or two, make some comments, build your profile – you’ve never seen anything like this before… stay tuned.
