Faldermeyer moves to #3 all-time in season debut

Both Alec Faldermeyer (Minisink Valley, Slate Hill, NY) and Davis Fraker (McIntosh, Peachtree City, GA) have been concentrating on the 35-pound weight so far this season and chose to make their season debut with the 25-pound weight at this weekend's New Balance Collegiate Invitational in New York City.  After putting up big numbers with the heavier implement, neither disappointed with the high school implement.  Faldermeyer wasted no time in taking the national lead by posting a three-foot personal best of 82'10.50".  Fraker was not far behind and threw a six-foot personal best of 78'10.25".  Both moved up on the U.S. all-time high school lists.  Faldermeyer now ranks third, behind only Conor McCullough (2007-Chaminade, West Hills, CA) and Walter Henning (2007-St. Anthony's, South Huntington, NY).  Fraker now ranks ninth.

Friday's girl's competition also had some fireworks.  National leader Melissa Kurzdorfer (Lancaster, NY) broke 60-feet again and was less than two inches off of her personal best.  Runner-up Diana Levy (Kennesaw Mountain, Kennesaw, GA) was also near her best.
