Dathan Ritzenhein Pulls Out of Philly Half Marathon

Dathan Ritzenhein, the fastest American marathoner in 2012 and 2013, has pulled out of Sunday’s Rock ’n’ Roll Philadelphia Half Marathon, Runner’s World Newswire has learned from sources at Competitor Group, Inc., the race organizers.

Ritzenhein cited injury as grounds for his withdrawal but has made no public statement.

The three-time Olympian hasn't announced his fall marathon plans, but a source indicated Ritzenhein was looking beyond the major American fall marathons and considering Fukuoka in Japan on December 7.
