Diamond League Action Resumes This Weekend in Paris

Has three weeks ever felt so long? With the last IAAF Diamond League meeting having taken place back on June 13th, the world’s best athletes finally return for meeting number eight of the 2015 season in Paris this weekend. Following national team appearances and trials for this summer’s World Championships, attention rightly turns back to the tricky business of securing Diamond Race points, with five Diamond League meetings taking place between July 4th and July 30th.

The first of those, the Meeting Areva in Paris, has a 16-year history in its current form and is proud to call the Stade de France its home. With a record attendance of more than 70,000 spectators in 2005 and a list of meeting record holders that includes many of the true greats of the sport, such as Bolt, Rudisha, Wariner, Bekele, Vlasic, Dibaba and Adams, this year’s competitors know that winning in the French capital would mean entering into truly esteemed company.
