McKay Madsen, a junior at Clovis North High in California, prevailed in the gold section of both the discus throw and the shot put at the West Coast Relays at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif. Madsen rallied to triumph in the sixth round in the shot put with a mark of 61-10.50 (18.86m) and produced a first-round effort of 186-3 (56.77m) in the discus.
