Seattle-based team to race Friday, April 19 under the lights at Hayward Field

EUGENE, Ore. - Track and field fans need be on world record watch Friday, April 19 at the Oregon Relays presented by AthleticNET, as the Brooks Beasts seek to break the world record in the men’s distance medley relay in the Distance Medley Relay NR/World Record Pro Challenge.

The Seattle-based contingent will include American middle distance standouts Brannon Kidder, Isaiah Harris, Brandon Miller, and Henry Wynne, with the group going after the world record of 9:15.50 set at the IAAF World Relays on May 3, 2015.

“Hayward is one of my favorite tracks and stadiums in the world, so the fact we live just a 4-5 hour drive away and compete on the track before the Olympic Trials is the best way I can think of to open up our outdoor season,” said Brooks Beasts head coach Danny Mackey. “Even though it is April and we have a long season ahead, the Beasts are hoping the fans and the fast track can lead to some special performances.”

“I am so excited to have the Beasts back at the Oregon Relays,” said meet director Ross Krempley. “The Beasts put on a show at last year’s event when they won the Mixed 4x800m Relay, breaking the world record in the process, and I have no doubt they’ll have fans on their feet Friday night as they go after the DMR world record.”

The Brooks Beasts quartet heads to the Oregon Relays coming off a strong indoor campaign.

Harris placed second in the 800m at the USATF Indoor Championships, earning a spot on Team USA at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Glasgow and finishing the indoor campaign ranking top 20 in the 800m in the world indoor standings.

Two-time NCAA indoor 800m champion Miller ran the fastest 600m time in the world during the indoor season when he cruised to a 1:14.03 effort in late-January in Albuquerque.

Wynne and Kidder were exceptional over the mile distance, with Wynne placing third in the 1500m at the USATF Indoor Championships and running 3:52 in the mile in late-February, while Kidder ran two 3:53 mile efforts and performed well over 800m.

The men’s DMR is part of the Oregon Relays Pro Challenge, which includes the men’s 800m, men’s mile, men’s DMR, women’s 800m, and women’s 1500m. with more than $5,000 being awarded per event.

Oregon Relays ticket packages are now available for purchase at the University of Oregon Ticketmaster website
