Who I Am...

Latest Blog Update

Back to Normal

Now that the 10K Classic is behind me, I can get back to a normal routine.  I tell you, I am sooo super glad that Phil bought me those new Nike+ shoes on Sunday.  I don't know what it is about them, but running with them on Monday, it seemed to help my ankle.  I was suprised that after the race, my ankle wasn't swollen.  With every work out I had done before the race, while wearing my regular old running shoes, the Bowman's, I ended up with a blister, and my ankle would hurt so much and be swollen the size of 1/2 a tennis ball.

After much persuasion from my sister, I made an appointment with the doctor (4 months late) for my ankle.  He'll probably just tell me that there is nothing to be done.  Even though it does still have that click in it and it does still hurt.  I mean, I can't do any jumping.  When I walk, I have to take tiny steps or my heel or my arch hurt, or the inside of my ankle will just kill.

So, today, my son Jay asked me to run with him.  He was going for 2 miles.  I decided to run only a mile.  I took the dogs.  The dogs were excited.  I hadn't been taking them out on runs for a few weeks now.  They really held their own for that mile.  But, it was a lot more cooler today.  Being part Chow does have it's disadvantages for them in Georgia.

I figure I'll keep doing running every day, and work out with Gilad.  I'll just sort of keep my work outs light until I see the doctor next week.  Like I said, doubt he will do anything.  I waited so long to have it seen.  At first I waited because I thought it was just sprained.  Then, after the sprain should have healed, I thought maybe it was just a bad sprain and waited a bit longer.  By then it was July and I began painting the rooms in the house, and my husband was out of town most of the time.

My 1 mile run around the track took me 10 minutes  something.  I can remember, it was only a few years back, when I could run one mile in 5 minutes and some.  And then I fell.  I have been trying to get back to that ever since.

You share your name with a Beatles song! I'm sure that's the "first" time anybody's ever mentioned that to you. XD
